Would you know what to do if you were the first on the scene?
At one time or another whether riding alone or as part of a group there is a chance that you will come across a road traffic accident. If you're riding in a group the chances of one of the group having an ‘off’ is considerably higher if a high degree of disciplined and defensive riding is not constantly observed.
The biker assist course is two hours long, free of charge, and designed to give you the information you require to make an accident scene as safe as you can, contact the emergency services, and deal with casualties. It is not designed to provide you with a first aid qualification or accident investigation skills, it is purely and simply a common sense approach to coping with an accident. In the UK, there is a legal precedent that allows a citizen to ‘do their best’ to help anyone requiring first aid or suffering from an injury. It is really not acceptable just to do nothing unless your own life is put in danger.
At the end of this presentation you will be aware of the following:
- How to get help by various means
- Scene safety, personal safety and scene preservation
- Basic first aid assistance
- Green Dot scheme/Apps for Bikers
- The ride back home
