Raise Your Ride Bransons Yeovil Motorcycles – 13th May
Description
Raise Your Ride is an initiative run for motorcyclists by motorcyclists. A partnership between Avon and Somerset Police & Somerset Road Safety for delivery across the west of England. Our aim is to raise awareness and demonstrate the value of advanced riding techniques. We are all motorcyclists and ride for various reasons, and we all enjoy our riding. However, it is a statistical fact that as motorcyclists we only make up about 1-2% of the road traffic, depending on weather and time of year, but we represent about 21-23% of the road casualties. Our aim in these sessions is simply to reduce rider casualties.
On attending a Raise Your Ride development experience, you will be introduced to the Police system of motorcycle riding which will include
- Cornering
- Reading the road
- Planning and hazard avoidance
- Overtaking
- Filtering
This is a unique opportunity to experience an observed ride with either a serving or former Police Advanced Rider who will bring a wealth of experience of riding & collision investigation. The day will be relaxed, and you will receive friendly hints and tips on how to make your ride safer and more enjoyable., with advice on what options are available to enhance your ride for safety & enjoyment.
We cannot expect to make you advanced riders from just these sessions, our aim is to enthuse you to take up further training with organisations such as IAM RoadSmart or RoSPA. What we can promise is that you will leave us with new knowledge to help keep you safe.
The course has a pre-read introduction to systematic riding which will be sent out to you once you have applied for the course you can however take a look here-
The only criteria for attending one of our sessions is that you hold a full cat A or A1 licence and have a motorcycle which can comfortably attain the national speed limit.
The cost of these 1-day workshops is £45* per candidate.
