Freewheelers EVS is a registered charity, which offers an out of hours and free of charge courier service to the NHS. Our slogan "Riding for Life" describes our operation perfectly. We ride to play our part in saving peoples lives and we ride to save the NHS money that would otherwise be wasted on taxis or expensive couriers, but more than anything else we ride because we love it. In 2008, in recognition of the dedicated work of our volunteers, we were given The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest honour that a voluntary group can receive, equivalent in status to an MBE.

This year RoSPA celebrates 100 years of improving road safety. Looking back over the century of changing attitudes to safety, RoSPA's groundbreaking campaigns have led to big falls in the numbers of people killed or seriously injured. At Devon and Somerset Advanced Riders (DSAR) we aim to carry on this good work, specialising on lowering the risk to motor cycle riders, aiming to reduce their chances of being involved in an accident that could be life changing or worse.

At the Somerset Moto Fest 2017, DSAR group members will be available to discuss any aspect of advanced motorcycle training and the benefits that we feel it could bring to your riding. We will also be looking to provide short ride outs where you can either have an assessment of your own riding style/skills or just follow one of our advanced riders who will demonstrate riding to an advanced level.

We look forward to meeting you there at our stand and discussing the merits of advanced riding.

The NABD was set up in April 1991 by six bikers from Stockport and Manchester who would not accept the idea that disabled people could not ride motorcycles, scooters, or trikes. The initial project was to find a way to adapt a motorcycle for a rider who had suffered the amputation of his lower left leg in an accident. A fund raising party was organised and publicised locally and this prompted several other disabled people to contact the group asking whether it was possible for them also to ride motorcycles. Within 12 months the NABD had just over 100 members and had helped three disabled people to adapt motorcycles and ride independently. Each adaption had to be designed from scratch, the money raised and the engineering problems solved, but from this small beginning the NABD was later to become the world leader in the field of motorcycling for people with disabilities.

The Riders Branch is keen to attract motorcyclists and supporters of the Legion from across the globe. Branch members have the option to belong to more than one branch if they wish, allowing them to remain members of their local Legion Branch/Club as well as the Riders, which is a National Branch.
