About Safety cameras

The Avon and Somerset Safety Camera Partnership (Safecam) was disbanded in March 2011 and, as a result, all fixed site safety cameras within Somerset were switched off on the 1 April that year. In 2014 the fixed camera sites were purchased from Somerset County Council by the Avon and Somerset constabulary and since then the operation of fixed cameras has come under police control.

Somerset Road Safety continues to work closely with all our partners to ensure continued road safety and casualty reduction. Safety camera enforcement is an integral part of the casualty reduction efforts in Somerset and mobile cameras continue to play an important role in helping to reduce collisions and casualties on our roads.
